LAJAWAB FISH CURRY
Hello and welcome back. Today I will share with you a delicious fish curry recipe made in a poppy-cashew-almond sauce which is a real treat to your taste palette. It’s rich, creamy with mild spices and is really a must try idea for everyone who likes to try different ways of making fish. I hope you all will like it well. Do try it sometime. So, now let’s start with its making—
- Basa fish fillet – 250 gms.
- Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1 tsp.
- Poppy seeds – 2 tbsp.
- Cashews – 5.
- Almonds – 4.
- Onion- 1.
- Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp.
- Red Chilly Powder – 1 Tsp.
- Coriander Powder – 1 tbsp.
- Tomato puree – 2 1/2 tbsp.
- Garam masala – 1 tsp.
For Garnish –
- Fresh Coriander and green chilies.
- Fresh Cream – optional.
Wash and marinate the fish with salt, turmeric, and red chilly powder. Shallow-fry the fish properly and keep aside. Grind the poppy seeds, cashews, almonds, and onion to a fine paste.
Take a kadhai. Add oil to it. When it gets hot, add ginger-garlic paste, tomato puree and fry for two minutes. Now add coriander powder, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, above-made paste and fry again. Now add water to make the gravy and simmer on medium flame for two minutes. When the gravy gets two boils, drop in the fish pieces and also add a pinch of garam masala. Cook for two more minutes. Garnish with cilantro and green chilies. You can also add some fresh cream but it is optional.
Our Lajawab Fish Curry is ready. Serve it in the main course.

FRIED FISH IN MUSTARD GRAVY
Hello and welcome friends. Today I’ll be sharing a delicious fish curry recipe of Rohu fish which is made in a spicy mustard sauce and having a special, authentic taste. It is a regular in my kitchen on weekends and is a treat for all those who like to eat non-vegetarian food. So let’s start with it—
Ingredients:-For marinating fish—
- Fish[Rohu] – 250 gms.
- Salt – According to taste.
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp.
- Garlic paste – 1 tsp.
For frying fish –
For making gravy –
- Yellow mustard and cumin paste – 2 1/2 tbsp.
- Red chilli powder -1 tsp.
- Garlic paste – 1 tsp.
- Tomato puree – 2 tbsp.
- Cumin – 1 tsp.
- Bay leaf – 2
- Oil – tbsp.
Wash and cut fish in medium size pieces if it is whole.
Marinate the fish with salt, turmeric powder and garlic paste and keep aside.
Take oil in a deep bottom pan and heat it up. When it is quite hot deep fry the fish and soak extra oil in tissue paper.
To make the gravy, heat the given amount of oil in a karahi and add cumin seeds and bay leaf.
Now add garlic paste and as it heats up a bit add red chilli powder and tomato puree and give it a good stir.
Now add the mustard-cumin paste and fry it for 2 minutes but don’t fry it for long as it will get bitter in taste.
Now add water and let the gravy boil for 5 minutes after which put the fish pieces in it and boil it for 5 more minutes. The fish curry is thus ready.
Garnish with chopped coriander and green chillies.
